Register todayHuntsman Mental Health Institute and the University of Utah Department of Psychiatry, in partnership with the Utah Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health and the Utah Division of Professional Licensing, will host the 8th Annual Addictions Update Conference on June 10 - 11, 2024.
This year’s program will follow the proven formats of the last few years and be available in person at the University Park Marriott or via a VIRTUAL option. Either format will include access to the full program on-demand for about two months after the release dates for all registrants.
About the conference
Aimed at medical, addiction, and behavioral health professionals, and those who influence those practices, the conference is focused on changing attitudes and increasing knowledge and competencies around substance use disorder issues facing today's society. This focus will help professionals to develop and implement effective prevention and intervention treatment programs through science, policy, and practice. Ultimately the conference's purpose is to improve systems, clinical practices, and client care for individuals, families, and communities.
Goals of the conference
To increase awareness and to share current knowledge of critical substance use issues throughout the life span and to identify and define their relevance to peers, family members, business, and community and government influences
To develop strategies to promote the healthy growth and development of individuals more effectively in all developmental stages and various cultural / ethnic backgrounds who are dealing with issues of substance use, misuse, and abuse
To provide effective working tools for professionals to properly intervene in issues of substance use, misuse, and abuse
To familiarize participants with current policies, resources, and resource needs in an environ-ment that facilitates interdisciplinary, collaborative networking
To provide tools for professionals in policy, research, and patient care to mobilize to develop and implement prevention and intervention programs in business, community and/or government ‘systems’ of Utah and the intermountain states
