The fellows rotate for three months on the inpatient unit at the Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI), a free-standing inpatient psychiatric facility, which has 66 child and adolescent inpatient beds, including a latency unit, two teen units, and a Comprehensive Assessment and Treatment Unit (CAT Program). HMHI has consistently been in the top tier of academic psychiatric facilities for the high-quality care that they provide. HMHI gets inpatient referrals from throughout Utah, five surrounding states, and the CAT program sees patients from all over the world. 

Fellows rotate on the Consult/Liaison service at the nationally recognized Intermountain Primary Children's Hospital. Primary Children’s Hospital, owned by Intermountain Healthcare, is the tertiary referral center for Utah and six surrounding states. Fellows spend a crisis month in the psychiatric ED and spend an inpatient psychiatry month at Primary Children’s Taylorsville Behavioral Health Campus (PCH Taylorsville).

Fellows also spend four months in the latency and Adolescent Day Treatment programs at HMHI or Primary Children's, which sees patients from all over Utah and three neighboring states. During these rotations, they work with adolescents with substance use disorders and advance their individual, group, and family therapy skills. They also work closely with our academic specialist to liaise with schools.
